YOUTUBE KARAOKE GUIDE

How to set up a YouTube karaoke party with phone requests

Skip the dedicated karaoke machine. A laptop, a TV or second display, and your guests’ phones are enough to create a shared YouTube karaoke queue.

What you need

  • A computer running Chrome, Safari or another modern browser
  • A TV, projector or second monitor for fullscreen lyrics
  • A connection that can play public YouTube videos
  • Guest phones, plus any microphones and speakers you prefer

Set it up in five minutes

  1. Open Singroom. No account, download or app installation is required.
  2. Add the first song. Find a karaoke or lyric video on YouTube, copy its URL and paste it into the request box.
  3. Open the player. Select “Open player screen” and move the new window to your TV or second display.
  4. Enter fullscreen. Keep the controller on your laptop while the other screen shows the video.
  5. Invite your guests. They scan the QR code and can add songs, reorder the queue, remove tracks and skip from their phones.

Why a shared queue works better

Nobody needs to pass around a phone or interrupt the current singer to search for the next song. Every guest can request ahead of time while the host keeps the running order under control.

Automatic song advance

For YouTube videos, Singroom displays a warning about ten seconds before the end and then advances to the next queued song. If a video blocks embedding, requires login or is region restricted, choose another public version.

Tips for a smoother karaoke night

  • Queue three to five songs before the party begins.
  • Look for videos with “karaoke,” “instrumental,” or “lyrics” in the title.
  • Connect the computer to your speakers and use a separate mixer for microphones if needed.
  • Keep the controller open. You can close and reopen only the player window.

Ready to sing?

Open the queue, paste your first YouTube link and share the room QR code.
